Lukashenko appointed new Belarusian ambassador to Georgia: relations between countries made progress recently

Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko has appointed Nikolai Rogashchuk – who earlier held the post of Deputy Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Georgia

The Head of State noted that relations between Belarus and Georgia have improved, “I am very pleased that this happened. Georgians treat us very well, they appreciate our people greatly, also demonstrating a more or less normal attitude towards the country's leadership. True, they have been insistently told that we are opponents, rivals – and almost enemies. But we have never been opponents for the Georgian people.”

Commenting on the diplomat’s appointment in Georgia, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that a new, effective person is needed at the new stage.
