Expert on points of attraction for foreigners coming to Belarus on visa-free basis: medical tourism, recreation in homesteads

Citizens of foreign countries come to Belarus for various purposes, primarily to relax and recuperate – as noted by Nadezhda Lazarevich, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Minsk City Executive Committee, in her talk with Alfa Radio

According to Ms. Lazarevich, Belarusians are happy to host guests from other countries. “We are very hospitable, and we have something to show. People come to Belarus to relax and get medical treatment: our sanatorium-resort sector is in great demand. Foreigners are attracted by shopping in Minsk. Our guests admit that they enjoy cleanliness, the opportunity to walk along calm streets and communicate with Belarusians. They appreciate Minsk’s well-developed infrastructure. Belarusians pay no attention to whether foreigners arrive from friendly countries or not: we are happy to welcome anyone – use our visa-free regime, come and relax, look at how we live and develop. We are all time inventing something to surprise our guests, so that the flow of tourists does not decrease and the hotel and restaurant business develops,” she said.

The official added that holidaying in Belarusian sanatoriums and homesteads is so popular that guests have to make reservations in advance. “Moreover, people come not for a day, but for a week, with a pre-prepared medical route. Foreign citizens are interested in our services in the field of dentistry and cosmetology, and our unique transplant specialists are in high demand,” Ms. Lazarevich stressed.
