Economy Ministry identified growth drivers for Belarusian economy in January-April 2025

The Economy Ministry has named the growth drivers of the Belarusian economy in January-April 2025, sb.by reports with reference to the country’s economic agency

The GDP growth rate for the first four months of this year made up 102.8 percent. Such sectors as construction (111.4 percent), industry (101.3 percent), information and communications (105.5 percent) and trade (102.6 percent) acted as the drivers.

Retail sales increased by 10 percent over the specified period due to the faster population income growth (12 percent in January-March). Investments in fixed assets increased significantly in January-April, rising by 15 percent.

Enterprises are continuing to invest actively in their technological development and renovation. The cost of the purchasing machinery and equipment grew by over a fifth.

In four months, 1,147 thousand square metres of housing were commissioned: a staggering increase of 112.1 percent compared to the same period a year ago. This has ensured high growth rates in the construction sector.

Annual inflation accelerated to 6.5 percent in April due to the decisions taken to increase regulated prices (tariffs), as well as rising prices for certain goods, primarily imports.

A stable economy makes it possible to ensure high wages, with an average of more than Br2,480 in Q1 2025. The average labour pension was more than Br900.
