Belarus’ Deputy PM: during Kupala Night celebrations, we aim to move away from conventional approach and embrace innovation while preserving our heritage

During the celebration of the Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends), it is planned to move away from the conventional approach and to preserve the best traditions of our people while embracing modern technology – as noted by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Karanik during a meeting of the permanent organising committee for the Kupala Night Festival preparations. During the event, issues of security, transportation, infrastructure, and catering for the guests of the holiday were discussed, with special attention paid to the holiday programme, creative approaches and ideas.

“This festival is loved not only by our citizens, but also by people from neighbouring countries who are happy to visit us. It already has its own traditions and special, friendly atmosphere. The festival brings together seemingly incompatible things. On the one hand, there are the traditions and history of our people; on the other hand, there are Belarus’ modern achievements. It brings people of all ages together. This year, our task is to move away from the conventional patterns while preserving the best aspects of this festival, such as its friendly and warm atmosphere. At the same time, however, we want to organically incorporate new elements, bringing the traditions of our people together with modern technology,” Mr. Karanik noted.

He also noted that this year the audience will be delighted with new creative performances, locations and interactive platforms, ensuring that the festival remains both traditional and eternally youthful.

The Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) will be held on July 5th. Every region of Belarus will be represented at the event. As is traditional, guests will be introduced to the enterprises, cultural traditions and culinary specialities of Belarusian regions.
